Project Development w2

For one of my animation classes we are tasked to create a project that best suits our portfolio. Here's the kicker. I am not sure which idea to run with, so I am breaking my back doing both to see which one I like best.

On one hand

I am creating a single shot for an animated short I plan to make. It's about a skinny person going to the gym for the first time. They are super nervous and mess up every workout they attempt. The buff gym members notice the effort our protagonist is making and help him out. Super simple, relatable and a great way to demonstrate body mechanics and movement. The single scene I plan to animate is our character messing up on the treadmill. He begins just fine but the treadmill speeds up more and more causing our protagonist to slip and comedically fall and flail about. I love this idea and I think it would be fine to animate...

But on the other hand...

I really want to try acting animation. Animating a character giving off dialogue and facial expressions. Literally acting. For this, I will be animating a single shot of father comforting his daughter who believes there are monsters under her bed. The lines go something like this

"Oh honey, the only monster within this suburban area is your mother."

Short, light hearted, and silly. The whole idea is alluring to me and I am 99% sure I am going to pivot to this shot. Body mechanics are cool and I love animating them as much as the next guy, but I really want to try acting since I have never really tried it before. Below you can find some storyboards and top downs for both projects.
