Post Graduation

Since graduating, my fears came to fruition as my work ethic quickly declined. I yearn for UTD Max and have been slowly working towards matching my original work ethic.
I don't regret taking a month off of heavy work, I certainly earned a prolonged period of celebration with my friends and family. But you can't have your cake and eat it too (or whatever the saying is).
Things have certainly gotten in the way of my projects (which I have a few of them I am working on) primarily work, most recently I have been promoted at nonPareil from a part timer back to full time salary. I have other projects as well such as my deceased grandmothers artbook (which is finally wrapping up) and making a fun youtube video about the Gunpla hobby. Further more I am happy to say I have expanded my social circles. Engaging with my church groups, doing fun activities such as Wednesday classes and Thursday Pickle Ball.
I do have plans to "keep some skin in the game" as my animation teacher puts it. Looking at either applying for an online animation course such as "Animschool" or "Animation Mentor" this fall. Which should keep me honest. To be straightforward, I don't know if Gods place for me is in the animation industry. No matter how badly I want it. I reflect on what fulfills me and I am unsure if industry work will accomplish that need compared to the impacts I am making for my students. Don't get me wrong I still want the experience desperately, so if a recruiter is reading this don't cut me out of the applicants! It's primarily the whole "AI elephant in the room" it's freaky to see industry professionals who are far greater at the art of animation than I am, being let go and laid off. That doesn't mean I am throwing in the towel but I would be a fool to say it doesn't concern me.
Besides life always getting in the way of things. I have a few animation projects that I have been working on here and there. One being a performance piece where a man attends a poetry night and attempts to deliver the famously inappropriate poem about a man from Nantucket. Before he can finish, he is boo'd off the stage. Another quick portfolio piece is a body mechanics demonstration of Spider-Man, landing on top of a building while pursuing the green goblin. I have some other ideas in the works and I am really excited to grow more outside of my school.
All in all, I am happy to slowly get back to work and this blog post plays a big role in keeping myself honest. I hope to continue this blog at the end of every month.
