Thesis Work pt.4

It has been a hot minute since I made an update. Balancing the holidays can be very very tricky. That being said I have made a plethora of changes to my thesis. There is much to discuss but first I would like to share the culprit of my high blood pressure as it holds relevance to my thesis.

So I am still primarily in the blocking phase and I JUST started to spline things a few days ago. Now if you know your numbers you would observantly notice that I do not have 5 weeks left, I technically have 6. There is reason behind this. I work better with crunch times, so to really motivate myself I am shooting to have the whole thing done by March 9th. That way I have plenty of wiggle room to manage any errors such as rendering/audio etc.
So what is new? A lot... so much so that I would rather post my previous blocking video and compare it to it's new iteration.
Here is what we had before the winter break. It wasn't bad by any means, it's just that there are certain factors that could be stronger in regards to the appeal and story.
Comparing it now to the current work.
One of the largest changes I am shooting for is the characters face. If you refer to the older video, you will notice about 60% of the short hides the protagonists face. This might be because I am subconsciously lazy and did not want to animate faces.
Another notable change is the addition of music to really help push the comedic and upbeat manner of the short. At first I was going for something serious yet satire, dry humor if you will. As I continued to work it became more and more difficult to capture this vibe, so I have pivoted to a more direct theme for the short. (I am still going to test the waters with some more serious music, something dramatic like the arms of an angel. Like those sad puppy commercials)
Furthermore I changed the "Drug deal" gag so now the buff fellow approaches our naive protagonist. This lines up better with the dialogue.
Those are the major changes. Narrative and readability are one of the most important factors when it comes to this project. The gags need to land. These next two months I am going to try to work myself to the bone so I can make something that my Thesis committee would gladly associate themselves with.
